Masterpiece Carving! Magnificent Movement!
How is an artist able to convey "movement" through a stone carving?!
Not all carvers have this ability BUT Derrald Taylor has that talent!
Derrald's Orcas drip with cold Arctic water.
And you can hear the sound of the Bear's arm hitting the drum with the baton over and over and over.
You feel the vibrations in your chest.
HIDDEN IN SIGHT stands tall on a overhang while a small seal has back himself up against the rock, quietly hiding from the drumming bear.
he caramel colour of the African (Kenyan) kisi soapstone charges the carving with a warm but energetic spirit.
I can't imagine any other colour of stone for his Dancing Drumming bears.
Derrald's carvings are a gift to the art world.
