The Ptarmigan is related to the grouse family and just happens to be the official bird of Nunavut.

Gert is so elegant,

Her tail feathers cascade onto the ground like an expensive ball gown.

Her posture is perfect.  She leans forward allowing her audience to adore her feathers, her curves and her regal head.

Ning has picked a stone that has patterns of light green that adorn Gert like strands of a necklace.

I have never seen Ning carve a Ptarmigan before.

Gert is very special.

Ning Ashoona is the only active female carver from Cape Dorset.
